STONEHAM, MA (JUN 2024) – It was another successful “season” for students participating in the Stoneham High School (SHS) Shark Tank 2024 at StonehamBank recently.
SHS students Brooke Abbott, Maya Guerbous, Greg Flynn, Gianna Bonavita, Nina Roman, Oakley Frye, Robbie Ingemi-Jones and Bryan Mendes presented their solutions to marketplace problems to StonehamBank “Sharks” SVP Darren Sawkicki, CEO/President Ed Doherty, EVP/CFO/Treasurer Nancy Coyle, VP Lauren Constantine and VP Shawn Kelley in the Boardroom at the Bank’s main office.
Student products included an anti-fog solution, a specialty pacifier straw for baby bottles, a woman’s shape wear product, stickable technology applied to shoes to provide traction on ice, customized shoe designs and technology that allows drivers to control car functions from their phone.
“Each of the students demonstrated high energy, excellent preparation, and remarkable enthusiasm throughout their presentations,” noted CEO Doherty. “Every product showcased creativity and practical problem-solving skills, making the judging process both challenging and enjoyable. Our compliments to each of the students and to SHS teacher Kurt Von Sneidern, who worked with the students and encouraged their efforts.”
The “Sharks” unanimously chose Greg Flynn’s Pacifree - a pacifier-straw with unique qualities which allow busy parents a hands-free way to feed their babies – as this season’s winner, noting that Greg demonstrated a deep knowledge of his product, clear inspiration, and exceptional delivery.
StonehamBank’s “Shark Tank” program is part of the Bank’s initiative to encourage financial literacy among students, including an annual Reality Fair for teens, and programs for classrooms within the eighteen cities and towns of the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act area. The Bank partners with Banzai® to provide classroom programming which is also available for anyone who wants to access it on the stonehambank.com website.
