As part of St. Patrick School’s middle school curriculum, students participate in an Enrichment Class focused on essential life skills such as dinner etiquette, public speaking, note-taking strategies, and more. This year, we were thrilled to partner with Stoneham Bank to introduce a special financial literacy series for our middle school students.
Over the course of nine weeks, Stoneham Bank team members volunteered their time—at no cost to the school—to deliver interactive, age-appropriate lessons that laid the groundwork for smart financial habits. Through engaging discussions and activities, students explored topics like needs vs. wants, cash flow management, and the difference between fixed and variable expenses. One particularly eye-opening takeaway from the students was that even millionaires can find themselves in debt without proper budgeting; on the other hand, smart spending can achieve financial freedom with just about any income.
We are incredibly grateful to Stoneham Bank for generously sharing their time, expertise, and commitment to empowering our students with real-world financial knowledge that will serve them for years to come.
