Stoneham, MA (JUN 2023) – At StonehamBank’s Annual Meeting held on Thursday, May 11, 2023, CEO Edward Doherty received the additional title of President. Mr. Doherty began his career at StonehamBank in 2009 and rose through the management ranks to be voted to the CEO position by the Board in 2018. Mr. Doherty oversees the Bank’s strategic direction and manages the day to day operations of the institution. “Our Board of Directors unanimously agreed that Ed was the best choice to fill the role of President” said Chair of the Board Janice T. Houghton, following the vote. “Ed has displayed strong leadership skills from his very first day at StonehamBank and, over the last five years in his role as CEO, Ed continues keeping what is best for the Bank and its customers in focus and to maintain open communication with the staff and the Board. We know he will capably lead StonehamBank into the future and continue to ensure that the Bank remains sound and strong and that our customers and employees feel valued and appreciated.” Mr. Doherty currently serves as aTrustee on the Melrose Wakefield Hospital Board of Directors, as a Vice Chair on the Cooperative Bank Employees Retirement Association (CBERA), as a Committee Member on the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) National Cybersecurity Committee, as a Director on the Zoo New England Board of Directors and was a former President of the Stoneham Chamber of Commerce, Vice President of the Woburn Boys and Girls Club, and a Director for the Billerica Alliance. He completed his undergraduate studies at Babson College and is a graduate of the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
